Adrianna (“Ade”) Brusie is a multidisciplinary artist and independent counselor based in Philadelphia. She holds over five years of experience in private and nonprofit art settings, and is currently a candidate for a Master in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, where she holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Art History. She has also completed a Post-Baccalaureate/Advanced Studio Residency at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Adrianna’s art practice is a return to the instinctual. Her work spans across visual and performance art to materialize an energetic, nonphysical nature of reality through movement, shape, and color. Their two-dimensional work often begins in meditative states, then prompted by emotional inclinations, sound, or synesthetic associations. Her performance practice uses movement and dance to explore emotional states that resist language and narrative, while her collages and mixed media works connect seemingly disparate iconographies, histories, and ideas to make sense of contemporary chaos. Intuition and chance are at the center of all her work, honoring the feeling realm as a space of knowledge building, healing, and repair.
Adrianna is the mind behind the Retro Ade Astrology, a Jungian astrological counseling practice through which she consults individuals, groups, and businesses using ancient pattern recognitions to support their creative practices, operations, and their personal and everyday lives.
To find joy beyond her work, she dances flamenco and lives with her two rescued cats, Cosmos and Pluto.
